ABOUT US
HELP was founded in June 2004 by community leader Basil Mills as a special agriculture-based initiative of the Monterey County Office of Economic Development and Monterey County Business Council with the support of the Grower-Shipper Association Foundation. Today HELP has a twelve member Board of Directors and is lead by Chairman Basil Mills & Executive Director Suzanne du Verrier.
HELP’s Mission Statement: 2007
To encourage healthy living and combat the obesity epidemic by offering a range of school, workplace and community programs on nutrition/healthy eating, physical activity, gardening/farming, positive lifestyle values; and to promote the increased consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables.
HELP’S VISION STATEMENT: What will we be?
HELP will be recognized nationally as a premier regional convener in developing, sponsoring and implementing unique private/public partnerships to improve community health and wellness and leverage support of the agriculture cluster of businesses with an expanded range of corporate, foundation and individual donors.
HELP will build bridges between the field and the fork, promoting farm fresh foods and healthy lifestyles to grow healthy communities by decreasing disease, reducing obesity rates and improving the quality of life.
