Organization wins award for hunger prevention
Monterey County's Healthy Eating and Lifestyle Principles (HELP) organization received a 14th annual Victory Against Hunger Award on July 20.
The award, given by Washington, D.C.-based Congressional Hunger Center, goes to organizations who demonstrate success and creativity in fighting hunger through school meals wellness policies.
HELP, a community-based non-profit organization that offers numerous private/public partnership intervention programs to fight rising obesity rates in the area, was chosen from a field of 84 candidates nationwide, nominated by U.S. Congress members.
