Agency will promote healthy eating

An agency formed to promote healthy lifestyles by eating locally grown produce has named Mike Pippi as its executive director.

Healthy Eating & Lifestyle Principles, or HELP, aims to teach Monterey County children healthier ways of living, primarily through lessons in Salinas Valley agriculture in large-scale marketing campaigns. It plans to launch the campaign in October at children's fair Kidfest.

As HELP's director, Pippi will lead programs and initiatives for the organization.

He is the founder and former CEO of Frohman Academy for Musical Theatre Education in Carmel. He left in the 1980s, and returns to Monterey County after working as Portland State University's founding director of creative industries studies, a recruiter for Walt Disney Feature Animation and special projects director for Turner International Broadcasting in Moscow.
